Flagship courses

Start with one of our four most-booked qualifications

Each course has its own page with the syllabus, who it’s for, and what you leave with. Enquire when you’re ready - we book open and private dates.

LightMed training

Regulated qualifications, delivered by the team you can book for cover.

Whether you are a duty holder sorting first aider numbers, a head teacher lining up paediatric cover, or an outdoor provider needing activity or forestry add-ons - you get the same LightMed standard: syllabus-faithful delivery, experienced trainers, and certification on the RQF via our approved Qualsafe Awards centre status.

Training sits alongside our event first aid and event medical cover work - many clients book both compliance training for staff and on-event cover from a single relationship with LightMed.

Prefer to train in-house? We routinely run private courses for academies, logistics firms, construction teams and event crews. Prefer to send individuals? Join a scheduled date at Winsford.

Who we train

Framed for people responsible for compliance - not generic “tick box” courses.

Different sectors need different awards - we help you pick the right programme for your risk profile, not the cheapest shortcut. Regulation and quality come from the qualification; the advice and delivery are ours.

Employers & facilities managers

Stay compliant with HSE expectations: FAW, EFAW, refreshers and AED training - scheduled around shifts or delivered on-site to minimise downtime.

Schools, nurseries & childcare

Paediatric first aid and emergency paediatric pathways for EYFS and school settings, including staff who need the full two-unit paediatric award.

Outdoor, sport & events teams

Activity first aid, forestry +F, and FREC qualifications for staff who need recognised pre-hospital competencies beyond standard workplace FAW.

Clinical & healthcare support roles

FREC and clinical support qualifications - including BLS, AED, anaphylaxis and medical gases awards, plus clinical-practice variants where your governance asks for them.

Qualifications we deliver

Qualifications & due diligence

Certification and quality assurance

Successful learners receive certification for the regulated qualification they completed, issued in line with the awarding organisation’s specification. We do not shorten regulated programmes, skip contact hours, or substitute non-approved equivalents - you get honest delivery and a certificate that stands up to scrutiny.

For employers: your first aid needs assessment remains your responsibility. We deliver the programme you choose and help you make proportionate decisions. The Qualsafe Awards calculator on this page is an optional planning aid - use it alongside your own risk assessment and sector guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Training questions we hear often.

Are you an approved training centre?

Yes. LightMed is an approved Qualsafe Awards centre, so the qualifications we deliver are regulated on the RQF and certificated accordingly. You get our trainers, our scheduling and on-site options - with the awarding organisation’s quality assurance behind the certificate.

Can you train at our workplace?

In most cases, yes - we can bring approved trainers and equipment to your site subject to suitable space, facilities and risk assessment. Travel outside Cheshire is costed upfront. Alternatively, join a course at our Winsford centre.

How do I know which first aid course my organisation needs?

Your obligations depend on risk assessment, headcount and environment - not guesswork. We’ll talk it through with you by sector (office, construction, education, care, events) and recommend proportionate options. There’s also a free first-aid planning calculator from Qualsafe Awards linked on this page if you want a second reference point.

Do you run open courses for individuals?

We schedule public dates at our Winsford centre where individuals can book a place. For teams, private group courses are often more cost-effective - enquire with your headcount and preferred dates.

What’s the difference between Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work?

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is a one-day foundation suitable for lower-risk workplaces. First Aid at Work (FAW) is a longer programme covering a broader syllabus and is appropriate for higher-risk settings or where you need more than one trained first aider with deeper coverage. Your risk assessment drives the choice.

Do you offer paediatric and schools-focused qualifications?

Yes - we run paediatric first aid and emergency paediatric pathways for schools, nurseries and childcare registers, including blended options where available, as regulated Qualsafe Awards qualifications.
